Commitment to Marquee Quality & Safety

At Northern Event Structures - Northern Marquees our commitment to quality and health & safety enables us to consistently provide the highest quality of marquees on every event all year round.

As members of the Performance Textiles Association (formally the Made Up Textiles Association – MUTA), we are fully committed to the MUTA code of practice and code of public safety which covers the full extent of the health & safety issues applicable to the industry.

We have invested in in-house washing and maintenance facilities and our full time Warehouse Team ensures that our equipment is maintained to the highest standards.

All of our marquees are erected to the manufactures specification by experienced staff and are flame retardant to BS7837.

Good Practice Checklist

The following checklist is provided to assist you in the planning and operation of your event.

Confirm with your MUTA marquee contractor:

  • dates for erection and dismantling
  • position of overground services or overhead cables
  • plan of structure/s showing entrances and fire exits
  • availability of mains service – water, electricity etc
  • general and emergency lighting
  • 24 hour emergency telephone number

Public safety requirements:

  • access and egress for the public
  • access for emergency vehicles and equipment
  • check occupancy levels/numbers of fire exits req.
  • arrange for rubbish to be cleared regularly
  • fire fighting equipment

Arrange with Authorities:

  • obtain licence from local authority (where appropriate)
  • insurance – public liability and loss or damage to equipment
  • notify local police where appropriate
  • AA/RAC signs

Winter months / exceptional sites:
Additional measures need to be considered for the planning of your event in winter months or on exceptional sites:

  • necessity of a controlled heating system to avoid the build up of snow on the roof
  • necessity of on-site maintenance during the event
  • the risk of water being shed from the roof and the natural drainage of the land will determine the need for a wooden floor
  • necessity for solid doors rather than openings or flaps

  • toilet arrangements
  • on site security
  • heating
